Future Projects
Primary Corneal Graft Failure: Aetiology and Incidence
Review of the incidence and reasons behind primary corneal graft failure. Literature review and comparison with world centres utilizing cold storage techniques

Irido-corneal Endothelial Syndrome: Role of HSV
Collection of pathology slides from SEALS Pathology using nested PCR analysis on patients with ICE syndrome who had corneal grafts at the Sydney Eye Hospital. The detection of HSV/CMV/VZV PCR will add to the evidence that alpha viruses are the aetiology of this uncommon unilateral condition

Riboflavin and UVA treatment in patients with keratoconus
Ethics approval has been granted for the use of Riboflavin drops to prevent the progression of keratoconus. Collection of data and patient follow up with investigation by pachymetry, orbscan, pentacam, confocal microscopy and digital photos

Sn50 inhibitor of nuclear factor kB in the treatment of corneal alkali burns
Sn50 has shown promise in a murine model. The project would involve gaining ethics approval and initiating a long term trial for alkali burns at the Sydney Eye Hospital with data collection on efficacy compared to historical controls
